Grand Efate Tour
Top rock (Saama)
Guest are picked up from the hotel foyer in our fully air conditioned bus.
You are met and greeted by our professional staff who will help make your day a pleasant one as you are driven around the island to discover the many hidden treasures of Efate.
Your first stop brings you to the home of fire walking, Iarofa Cultural Village. You will be welcomed by the chanting warriors. A spokesman from the village welcomes guests then precedes on to reveal the ancient traditions of the people and their way of life.
Demonstrations of traditional fishing and hunting methods are presented then a fire walking ceremony is performed by a brave warrior while the rest of the warriors continue to cheer on in rhythmic custom dancing.
Towards Eton Village, you will drive pass rows and rows of coconut palm trees, plantations established by the colonial powers during their time here. As of here, you will then be taken to Epule where you will experience a ride in wooden dug out canoes upstream to be entertained by a traditional custom group .
There you will be greeted by local villagers performing a fabulous war dance whilst the village women prepare a sample buffet of vegetables cooked slowly in the ground in lap lap (like banana leaves) which is then washed down by coconut juice. You are then transferred to your lunch at a local restaurant downstream consisting of a variety of local dishes and cold drinks prepared for you.
From there, you are then on the road again to the nearby Nasinu Hot Springs. Soak in the healing waters of thermal spring or indulge in a rejuvenating mud bath. The drive from the hot springs to your next stop sets out along the coastline and more local villages where remains of WWII relics are still found.
After this you then continue on to Saama Top Rock where there will be another local tour guide awaiting you to take you on a leisure nature walk to deck built on a hillside where you will have a spectacular birds eye view of the islets off the coast of North Efate. Afternoon tea is served at Gideon’s Survivor Beach where the Survivor TV series was filmed. There is also an opportunity to snorkel and go for a quick swim.
